Toronto/Halifax/Pittsburg

Simone kept busy with a million projects such as screen-printing patches and posters, knitting socks, volunteering with Books Beyond Bars, co-hosting the radio show and of course working on The Video Booth Project. The Video Booth made appearances at the Gottingen Street Festival, the Community Action on Homelessness Street Youth Festival, Canzine East and the North Branch Public Library, collecting rants, interviews and stories from who-ever dared to enter the booth.

Toronto, ON

Airin will be scouring Halifax's street by bicycle to find and document all kinds of hidden gems and compile them in to a zine. Drool Pool: Halifax Finds compiles found objects, scavenged and thrifted in Halifax. The zine launch was a big success with a reading room, a punch bowl, live music on the roof and many lovely visitors (including the police!).

Providence, RI

Jo spent two weeks working with the Anchor Archive and Atlantic Filmmakers Coop on a new animation (check out the photo of her using the oxberry). We had a screening of some of her 16mm works, and there are now copies of her amazing comic zines in the library.

Halifax, NS

Leah stayed in the shed for some time in July and August, working on setting up an art book & zine tour that took us to the Tatamagouche Free School and back. Leah injured herself and couldn't come biking! Super bummer! But she made awesome connections for future zine workshops all around the province.

Montreal, QC

Elif worked on a number of craft projects, stitching her two weeks away. She held a log cabin quilting workshop and felting workshop, and made two small instructional zines: makin' yo yos with elif and log cabin quilting for you and me. They both are available at the Anchor Archive, at our library or through the distro.

Boston, MA

Ciarra made a totally amazing and addictive zine of punk and zine themed logic puzzles called Up the Logic Punks. Copies are available at the Anchor Archive or from Ciara (www.papertraildistro.com).

Judy, as well as her dog Cindy, braved the cool Maritime spring in the shed. She held a workshop/discussion about defining sexuality and gender, and built a giant puppet for the Atlantica Protests in June.

2006

Halifax/Portland

Sarah stayed in Sarah's room and worked on harrassing people about their submissions to DIY in HFX, a compilation-based book about do it yourself projects in Halifax. The book was released this fall.

Halifax, NS

Dennis is using the Print Gocco to make invitations for the release of a scroll-like guided tour pamphlet for the Utopian Territory Sub-Scotia. This was an ongoing project, with John Mathews, that examined colonization and tourism through the refounding of Georges Island, which is in the Halifax harbour, and renaming it SubScotia.

Montreal, QC

Sarah and her lovely dog Logan came for the month, and worked on several projects. Sarah completed a short video with animation, called "This City is Falling Down." She also played a few shows singing with her mini ukulele, and decorated the shed with curtains and messy drawings and collages.

Montreal, QC

Jeff and Sarah were the first to stay in the shed, it was finished the day they arrived in town from Montreal. They spent their days writing and researching at the Nova Scotia Archives. Jeff worked on stories for the next issue of his zine Ghost Pine, and Sara worked on researching Nova Scotian history. We held an event that included musical acts, Jeff reading stories, and Sara talking about postcards and media during the Halifax Explosion of 1911.
