Thesaurus Term Suggestions
Users of the Zine Subject Thesaurus can suggest a new term for the Thesaurus by filling out a form on the Anchor Archive website. These instructions explain what to do when we receive a new term suggestion.
- Read through the form and note if you need any further information from the person who suggested it or have any questions for them.
- Send the person who suggested the term a version of the email template "Received a term suggestion," which confirms we received the suggestion and are reviewing it. If you have any questions, add them to the message and wait until you hear back from the person to move to step 3.
- Review the suggested term and confirm we will add it and any changes that could be made. This may involve consulting with other editors.
- Search for the suggested term or similar terms in the Thesaurus and make sure it is not already there.
- Does the term fit the scope of the Zine Subject Thesaurus?
- Is it a "good term?" Are there any changes or improvements that could be made?
- Do you agree with any relationships, scope notes, etc. that were included in the submission?
- If you decide to not add the term to the Thesaurus, send the person who suggested it the email template "Suggested Term not Added to the Thesaurus.
- If you decide to add the term to the Thesaurus, add it yourself or add it to the Thesaurus Editing Tasks and ensure the term is added during an Editathon.
- After the term has been added to the Thesaurus, send the person who submitted it the email template "Suggested Term Added to the Thesaurus."
