Kerri Flannigan, Kir Tancon, and Heidi Cho

Kerri, Kir and Heidi made the amazing and epic zine "Make the Wind Blow... a Zine on Music and Resistance." The zine explores the political use of music as means for building community, self-representation, shared histories and social justice. It is a compilation of stories, articles, profiles and art that celebrates inspirational figures in music, and includes a mix cd, silkscreened cover, and art cards! They held an art show, zine launch and show and tell to share their work.

Teresa Chun-Wen Cheng

Teresa Chun-Wen Cheng worked on creating a short stop-motion video from one of her comics, exploring the effects of racism and colonialism on children's perception of themselves and the violence that comes out of the internalized racism. She held a screening of the video-in-progress.

Miranda Elizabeth

Maranda Elizabeth completed a new issues (#20) of her zine, Telegram Ma'am, revolving around on disability and writing. Maranda also held a workshop on "Mental Health and the Concept of Home" and an Ice Cream Social and Zine Launch Party, and participated in the 24 Hour Zine Challenge and our 5th Birthday party!

Hunter Jackson & Molly Goldberg

Molly and Hunter created the zine "All of Us Giants", to "identifying the things we like and enjoy that lay hidden in the world we walk through every day; but that also means learning to imagine what’s not here, and thinking about how to combine it with what is." They compiling ideas from interviews conducted, anonymous answers put in public Answer Boxes, and a Think-a-Thon/Talk-a-Thon/Draw-a-Thon/Make-a-Thon.

Jeff Miller and Sara Spike

Jeff and Sarah were the first to stay in the shed, it was finished the day they arrived in town from Montreal. They spent their days writing and researching at the Nova Scotia Archives. Jeff worked on stories for the next issue of his zine Ghost Pine, and Sara worked on researching Nova Scotian history. We held an event that included musical acts, Jeff reading stories, and Sara talking about postcards and media during the Halifax Explosion of 1911.

Dennis Hale

Dennis is using the Print Gocco to make invitations for the release of a scroll-like guided tour pamphlet for the Utopian Territory Sub-Scotia. This was an ongoing project, with John Mathews, that examined colonization and tourism through the refounding of Georges Island, which is in the Halifax harbour, and renaming it SubScotia.

Ciara Xyerra

Ciarra made a totally amazing and addictive zine of punk and zine themed logic puzzles called Up the Logic Punks. Copies are available at the Anchor Archive or from Ciara (www.papertraildistro.com).

Elif Saydam

Elif worked on a number of craft projects, stitching her two weeks away. She held a log cabin quilting workshop and felting workshop, and made two small instructional zines: makin' yo yos with elif and log cabin quilting for you and me. They both are available at the Anchor Archive, at our library or through the distro.

Airin McGuinty

Airin will be scouring Halifax's street by bicycle to find and document all kinds of hidden gems and compile them in to a zine. Drool Pool: Halifax Finds compiles found objects, scavenged and thrifted in Halifax. The zine launch was a big success with a reading room, a punch bowl, live music on the roof and many lovely visitors (including the police!).
